1/4 Century

11 pm - 31st July 2022.

My boyfriend & I were driving back to Jakarta after spending a day in my hometown, celebrating my sister’s wedding. It was a big event for me and the family first granddaughter’s wedding. On our way half of the trip back to Jakarta, the traffic went bad, and tomorrow is Monday. Time to get back to work, thinking about that exhaust us already. So I followed the suggestion from google maps and took an exit on Karawang. It was an unfamiliar place. Of course I wouldn’t be comfortable giving the direction, but I’m with the best company.

The one I can always talk about everything. Even in the first month of reuniting as a friend. We talked again after months (or years) of minding our own business, not knowing what happened in each other’s life. It was only a few years ago since we support one another in our hard times, and back then, all was platonic (I thought).  

When we got closer, I thought this was too good to be true. Catching feelings with your twin flame. I didn’t believe the feeling because I thought it would only be good at the beginning. But there we were, playing 30 days song challenges, listening to the song that we like that reminds us of something, and singing it out loud during the long night drive.

Zero o’clock playing in the background, and we’ve reached half of the song. We were back on the highway. No traffic, driving in the middle of the night at some speed.

Then you turned the volume down and held my hand.

“Happy birthday sayang”

That was the moment I knew I’m fully content and blessed. No birthdays are important enough to determine who I am. 

I know you got my back. I know I’m safe.

and I wish you know that you're always safe with me too.

I thank God, for making me strong enough to pass the hardship, to accompany me until I reach this point.
