Day 4 - I'll See You One Day!
Places I want to visit. Since the challenge put an s in it, I would like to feature a few of my dream places. Note in mind that I really want to travel the world (for real), but I’m just gonna put some that are on my bucket lists.
1. Iceland
Iceland is one of the perfect tourist destinations to watch the northern lights. I guess I’ve mentioned in my previous post that I’m longing to see a clear night sky where I could see the constellation with my own eyes (blame it on anime), plus I'll get to see the famous Aurora Borealis. The cold temperature would allow me to wear layers of clothing which I don’t think it’s possible to wear in Indonesia. Besides the northern lights, Iceland has very great destinations, such as waterfall, glacier, cliffs, etc. I actually wish to visit Iceland in spring, since it's the perfect moment to see their flowers bloom and the land turned from green to purple. But I have no idea do the northern lights are visible in the spring. Their nature is still unspoiled (or maybe Iceland’s government took great care of it). Needless to say, Indonesia also has various beautiful nature (and I’m gonna visit it one by one in the future) but I really want to experience how nature feels in the subtropical area.
2. Rome
I am a Greek myth enthusiast (thanks to Rick Riordan) and I used to talk a lot about Greek myth with my junior high friend. But later in life, I haven’t found anyone who has the same interest as mine which is okay but some might find me weird. So, why don’t I visit Greece instead of Rome? Well, Athens used to be on my bucket list, but the truth is Greek heritage is not that "complete" anymore. Which is why I move to Rome. I also have an interest in the Roman Empire but their history is more complex, so I think I still know a little part of Roman’s story compared to the Greek myth. Rome is a classic city, witnessed the culture change from the Roman empire to the Vatican. First Colosseum, the place for the gladiators. I don’t know if it is still one of the world’s seven wonders, but one thing is for sure, it's still on my bucket list. Then the Trevi-Fountain. I fall in love with this place the first time I saw it on the screen! Hopefully one day I could visit in person. There are so many things to do in Rome, like enjoying the rest of the day by walking through the city of Rome. Visiting one of the Rome temples, the Pantheon, that now used as a Church. Going to the Vatican museum and admiring its architectural design. Walking around the Spanish Steps and adoring the beautiful city of Rome. Maybe, after a few days in Rome, I could ride a gondola in Venice as a closure.
3. The holy city of Mecca
The spiritual journey is very impactful on me. I’m not a very religious person but I believe that I am here today because of the values that I believe in. Seeing the holy city of Mecca from afar always gives me goosebumps (in a good way). Mecca also has this building, Ka’bah, which witnessed a lot of events. How the late prophet Ibrahim and his son Ismail reconstructed the building, and Scholars even said prophet Adam and Jibril made it first. If you think it was the only thing that is interesting from Mecca, you’re wrong. The mosque is very beautiful, and I’m looking forward to seeing how they open their umbrellas (I don’t know what it’s called) in the morning.
4. New York
As a little girl who was influenced by a lot of American sitcoms, New York really made an impression on me. Maybe I just need a few days in New York. Sleeping in one of New York’s apartments, hang out in one of New York’s coffee shops, being overdressed, chilling at the Central Park, enjoying the Broadway show that's available at the moment, visits their museums, shopping at the times square, and enjoying New York's view from the Empire State Building.
